By way of introduction, our names are Chuck and Tina Jones.
We live in Elk Grove, California just south of Sacramento in a rapidly growing community.
Our human children are all grown and off on their own, so our
current immediate family consists of our four Rhodesian Ridgebacks, one abyssinian cat, and three box turtles
who patrol our back yard. Our Ridgebacks...... Jamu, AylaMichele, Star and Dolly fill our home with lots of joy
and happiness. Our four granddaughters, Moriah, Amara, Kayla and Savanna are also learning the fun and joy
of having the Rhodies around as "our best friends".
We bought our first Ridgeback together
in July 2003. Chuck chose Jamu as the pick of the litter of 13 puppies. Chuck had owned three Ridgebacks
prior to us being married in 1991 so he was familiar with the breed and wanted "his" Ridgeback. Chuck
picked Jamu as the dog he wanted to start our journey together... and we have never looked back or regretted our selection
of Jamu as our foundation dog or the breed in general. We don't think there is another breed that has such
a colorful and interesting history of evolution.
Jamu was given
to Chuck as a gift after retiring with 30 years of service with the Department of Justice (DOJ) as a Special
Agent in Charge. Tina has worked for DOJ since 1980 and continues to work at the DOJ until she retires and is able to
spend more time with her Grandkids and the Ridgeback fancy. It was because of the fact that our
careers and beginning of our life together was built at "Justice" ... that we decided to give our journey into the
Ridgeback world the name of "JusticeRidge".
The "show bug" bit
me when BARRC had a conformation fun day in Elk Grove and we thought it would be fun and interesting to check it out.
We entered Jamu to see how he compared to the other RRs and used the opportunity to mingle and interact with other ridgeback
breeders and owners. By coincidence, the breeder whose line produced Jamu was at the fun match so we were able to learn
a bit more about his lineage and the champions in his pedigree. To our surprise and delight, Jamu won the fun match
and had his picture taken with the judge and we brought home a beautiful rosette that commemorated his first win. After
that first fun day, it just seems doors opened one after the other, and it wasn't long until we were pursuing a
show journey with Jamu towards his AKC championship. Tina went on to become successful as a new owner/hander, as
well as an active member of the Bay Area Rhodesian Ridgebck Club (BARRC). Tina wanted to be more involved with the fancy,
so she took on the job as BARRC's Recording Secretary which has allowed her to meet additional RR folks who have been
a wealth of knowledge and experience with the breed.
It
seems like only yesterday that Jamu entered our family circle, but since then our family has increased to include three new
girls, and shows that come up almost every weekend.
Our
dogs are OFA certified for hip dysplasia, elbows, cardiac and thyroid. All have been owner/handler shown in the rings
to earn their AKC championships. It has been a journey and experience of a life time. The joy and pride
our RRs have given us have been priceless.
We
have become so interested in the breed that we decided to take the next big step into breeding. In 2007, CH Adjamu-Two
for CJ "Jamu" was bred to CH Kariba JusticeRidge AylaMichele, SC "Ayla". This breeding produced
a very nice litter of four puppies.
Three of the puppies went to wonderful
homes and we kept a bitch puppy, we named "Dolly". Check out Dolly's link on our site to watch
her progress and see how she has grown into a beautiful ridgeback who has had a promising show career and produced a wonderful
litter of 10 Ridgeback puppies on January 31, 2010. These puppies are doing well and some of them are currently
on the show circuit, and the others are in loving homes.
Our next litter was with Jamu and
Star and they produced 9 beautiful puppies on January 18, 2011. We hope to see two or three of these puppies in loving
show homes and will be in the rings in 2011-2012 and the rest of the litter will be placed in loving Pet homes, even
though the puppies are "show potential". We feel it is more important to select just the right homes
with families who will love them and give them a forever home, no matter if they are show dogs/family pet or 100% family
pets. After all, all our show dogs are family pets first and far most! This litter is our JusticeRidge Country
Super Stars!
JUSTICERIDGE SHOW CAREERS:
Our Ridgebacks are proudly owner/handled in the conformation show rings and performance events. Jamu, AylaMichele
and Dolly have completed their AKC Conformation requirements and are now champions! AylaMichele has also gained
her AKC Senior Coursing Title and is close to earning her dual championship as a Field Champion in Lure Coursing.
Star is currently on the California show circuit working towards her
AKC championship. We would love to have you come visit us at a ring near you. Just watch for the latest show schedule

Star earned her Senior Coursing (SC) Title
on March 30th, 2008 and now we have two SCs at JusticeRidge.
Dolly earned her AKC Junior
Coursing (JC) Title on April 27th, 2008 and is following the paw prints of her Mommy "Ayla" who loves to chase
those bunnies... Or I should say white plastic bags!
On August 2, 2008 Dolly won
the "Best in Sweeps" at a BARRC supported show for Richmond Dog Fancier's in Dixon, CA. Special thanks
to Judge Ms Sally Cook for awarding Dolly the Best in Sweeps award. It was a honor to be the owner, breeder and
handler of Dolly for this special win.
On September 13, 2009 Dolly won "Winner's Bitch"
at the Sir Francis Drake Kennel Show in San Rafael, CA. Special thanks to Judge Mrs Patricia Gilbertson for awarding
Dolly her championship win! This was an exciting day to be handling Dolly to her championship! This was also the
first day four of the puppies came out for puppy sweeps and they all made me very proud of them.
After
a successful show career, Dolly became a new Mommy of 10 beautiful puppies on January 31, 2010. The Sire of the wonderful
litter is Grand Champion Diablo's Nick of Time "Nico".
The 79th RRCUS National held in Ventura
was a dream come true for JusticeRidge! Pilot and Josie from the Nico and Dolly litter both placed, as well as Pilot won Best
Opposite Puppy in Sweeps. Josie won 4th Place in the 6-9 puppy bitch regular classes. Check out their pages for
pictures and additional information. Ringo was exhibited by
Michele Bohrer in Junior Sweeps and the Open Dog Class, which was huge! Ringo won 2nd place in both classes which was
an amazing accomplishment.
Kina won 2nd Place in a large American Bred Regular class and
then in October won a 3 and 4 point major back-to-back at the Del Valle weekend shows.
Following these amazing
wins, she won Winner's Bitch at the Turkey Circuit. On December
31, 2010 Kina won "Winner's Bitch and Best of Winners" at the San Mateo Kennel Show in San Mateo, CA.
Special thanks to Judge Doctor Donald A. Gill for awarding Kina her championship win! This was an exciting
day to be handling Kina to her championship! Kina is the Daughter of Ayla and Ikaika's litter whelped on December 20,
2008.
2011 was a great year for JusticeRidge with our first win at the Cow Palace by JusticeRidge Diablo's
Flying Tiger "Pilot". This was one year after the Dolly-Nico litter was born on the day of Cow Palace, so it was
pretty exciting to see one of the puppies win their first point there!
